A Deconstructed City
Artist: Lachlan Wallin
Geometric forms in an amorphous space. A combination of chaos and order. A Deconstructed City challenges a viewer’s interpretation of space, depth and logic. The structures represented in the scenes remind a viewer of buildings fused with minimalist sculptures, thus invoking a sense of unsteadiness.
Wallin's paintings comment on the fallibility of personal visual perception, endeavouring to confound this perception through the manipulation of illusion and geometric perspective. The paintings, combined with sculptural painted cubes, create an area where the constitution of the gallery space itself is challenged.
